DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Nurse Educator III is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating education and training for all new hires and current team members in Radiology Nursing. Is an integral part of the Radiology Nursing leadership team and collaborates closely with the Radiology management team and the nurse educator counterparts in EDR. Responsible for onboarding all career and contract labor RNs to the unit. Leads implementation of new education, projects, and programs on the unit. Supports the staff by mentoring and coaching. Participates in unit and organizational committees which enhance the quality of patient care in Radiology.
Collaborates with nursing leadership to tailor programs and resources based on needs assessments. Meets the diverse requirements of Radiology patient populations, regulatory and accreditation and strategic goals of the organization/health system.
The Clinical Nurse Educator - Radiology will be working with patients receiving radioactive isotopes and requires utilization of dosimeter to monitor safe levels of radiation exposure. This position serves all UCSD Radiology modalities including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Breast Imaging, Diagnostics, and Interventional Radiology at multiple UCSD locations. The workflow of this position may include caring for a high volume of patients per day in radiology setting, assisting anesthesia provider during imaging study, assuming care of outside facility patients from transport RN for imaging study, and providing oversight of LVNs in Radiology setting.
Applies skills and experience as a seasoned nurse educator to ensure optimal clinician knowledge and skills through education and training in either general or specialized nursing education and/or training. Serves as a preceptor for entry or intermediate Clinical Nurse Educators. Leads implementation of new programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
- BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Three (3+) or more years of relevant ICU, ER, IR, or Radiology RN experience.
- Demonstrates leadership skills with an emphasis on performance management and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills in high stress environments.
- Thorough knowledge of delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation and skills/competency learning and leadership development.
- Demonstrated understanding of a diverse range of acuity levels, patient populations, nursing scope of practice, and standards of care.
- Strong skills in written and verbal communications. Ability to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel. Ability to convey complex clinical information in a clear, concise manner. Develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership.
- Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN).
- Cardiac Experience
- Current PALS certification
- Previous experience as a clinical educator or clinical instructor.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $116,000 - $224,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $55.56 - $107.38
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
