Position Overview:
The Clinical Health Services (CHS) Mobile Medical Assistant will support clinical services provided to patients by ensuring quality patient care is provided through Family Planning Service programs. Under the clinical guidance/oversight of the CHS Advanced Practice Provider, the CHS Medical Assistant will be responsible for performing clinical tasks in a mobile clinic unit in accordance with all Harris County Public Health policies and procedures as delegated by the CHS Advanced Practice Provider.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with patient appointments by performing phlebotomy (including capillary and venous draws), urine collection, pregnancy tests, lead testing, vital signs, & gathering patient histories.
- Perform direct care in the Mobile Unit Clinic in a community setting, location to vary throughout the year.
- Prepare and label all patient specimens for transport to appropriate laboratories. Provide in-room support for all clinical staff during the clinic visits as needed, including assisting the provider during procedures.
- Maintain laboratory and exam rooms in a neat, clean, and orderly manner in accordance with infection control policies, and complete monthly inventory.
- Assist in performing data entry and electronic data processing by using the HCPH electronic medical record system (Epic), Microsoft Excel, and any other related programs/sites.
- Stock the exam rooms with medical supplies necessary for client screening. Maintains inventory and rotates dated stock to prevent loss, orders appropriately.
- Perform quality assurance on all needed medical equipment and supplies.Remove barriers and create innovative solutions to connect patients with our services.
- Prepare and sets up patient waiting/reception area before clinic sessions. Return all equipment to the proper storage area after clinic session ends. Perform clinic front office duties; scheduling, answering phone, and checking patients in/out as needed.

Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited community college or business/technical school Medical Assistant program
Experience:
- Six (6) months of experience in a healthcare setting
Licenses/Certifications:
- American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Valid TX Driver's License

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
- Full-Time | Regular
- Monday - Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Must be willing to flex work hours when required, including weekends.
- Able to travel within Harris County as needed.
Work Environment:
- This position operates in a medical mobile unit clinic environment.
- This position also operates in a standard medical office environment with standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.
Physical Demands:
- Persons in these positions frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 lbs. and occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.
