GI/Endoscopy Nurse-up to $25,000 sign on bonus base on experience

The Endoscopy department offers the opportunity to work with a variety of patients for elective, urgent, and emergent needs within the gastrointestinal system. The orientation period is up to 6 months long and can be tailored to individual needs. Employees are welcomed into a supportive and collaborative team with positive provider relationships, along with opportunities to expand their knowledge with organizational resources and opportunities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assess patients with a variety of needs. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care, and effectively prioritize patient needs that are both expected and unanticipated.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with other health care professional and patients.
- Demonstrate competence and resourcefulness in the implementation of the technical skills required to care for the patient. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current in the organization and department policies, procedures, and standards.
- Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addresses actual and potential problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation.
- Assist with educating patients and families and serves as a resource on department standards for patient care.
- This is a full-time position that includes a call component. The units are regularly staffed Mondays- Fridays 0700-1800. Weekends and holidays are covered by call which rotates amongst the nursing team.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Current NYS Registered Nursing
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Previous Medical Surgical experience preferred, willing to train.
- Will obtain BLS during introductory period. ACLS certification must be obtained prior to completion of the introductory period
Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.

- $39.63 to $48.18 per hour
