Your responsibilities will include: Setting up and maintaining the surgical suite with instruments, supplies, and advanced equipment to ensure safe, seamless procedures Assisting with patient transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while prioritizing comfort, privacy, and safety Scrubbing in and partnering with the surgical team by providing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating the team’s needs Monitoring patients and surgical equipment throughout procedures, responding promptly and effectively to any concerns Upholding sterile technique, completing room turnover efficiently, and supporting a high-performing, collaborative team environment What qualifications you will need: Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred. Job Summary and Qualifications The Nurse Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, these Patient Care Assistants have an important role in the implementation of nursing plans by performing direct and indirect patient care that complies with hospital policies and the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel. Nurse Externs are currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved. You will obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, intake and output, and calorie counts. You will assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients and with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs.
