CSH is a 277 bed inpatient psychiatric hospital led by a team committed to the pursuit of excellence in serving individuals with mental health needs. Central State Hospital (CSH), a State of Virginia mental health hospital located near Petersburg, VA, is recruiting for a full-time Admissions Nurse - RN to join our team. The position will work within the Admissions Department to provide quality care to patients on the road to recovery from mental illness and to be direct supervisors for other nursing staff members.
Job Duties:
- Use the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care delivery as reflected on the nursing parts of the individual's interdisciplinary Treatment Plan;
- Accurately completes admission/transfer/discharge duties including but not limited to assessment, documentation, hand-off communication, and notifications as needed;
- Attends and actively participates in treatment plan meetings. Develops and updates nursing related aspects of the integrated interdisciplinary Treatment Plan with specific goals and interventions delineating all nursing actions unique to patient needs;
- Create healthy interpersonal interactions with patients on adult acute admissions, intermediate service, extended rehabilitation service, forensic service, and maximum security units;
- Demonstrate professional leadership as a Primary Nurse, Charge Nurse, Medication Nurse, and/or Treatment Team Nurse;
- Ensures adequate staff assignments and coverage of Special Staffing monitoring. Promptly notifies NUM, RNC, and/or AOD for any coverage issues/concerns;
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- License or eligibility to practice as Registered Nurse by Virginia State Board of Nursing in the State of Virginia
- Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of professional registered nursing to provide care appropriate to adult populations, including patient care treatments, wound prevention, falls prevention, and implementation of infection prevention and control practices
Additional Considerations
- BSN is preferred
- Experience in providing nursing care in healthcare setting
- Experience working with individuals with mental illness, geriatric issues, and/or substance abuse
- Supervisory experience
