Work under the direction of the Dean of Health Science, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor will provide instruction in accordance with the established SCDHHS CNA guidelines and curriculum.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare diverse student population with training on performing CPR, first aid skills, human anatomy, basics of patient caregiving including taking vital signs, personal hygiene, and range of motion exercises. Infection control and general safety. Ability to supervise and coordinate hands-on training with students.
2. Establish an environment conductive to learning. Ensure courses are taught in accordance with the established syllabi. Identify “at risk” students and discuss option with Dean of Health Science. Provide and maintain a safe learning environment and model this behavior to all students.
3. Attend and participate in meetings as scheduled by the Dean of Health Science to assure consistency of course content with clinical experiences. Adhere to course and program objectives and collaborate with the Dean of Health Science in developing appropriate clinical experiences. Accompany students to their clinical experience. Participate in the student’s clinical evaluation process.
4. Utilize appropriate instructional resources to facilitate student progress toward meeting objectives. Evaluate student progress and maintain appropriate records.
5. Review the curriculum and specific course content to facilitate student progress toward meeting objectives.
6.Adhere to the policies, procedures, and standards of WTC, Department of Nursing - Nursing Standards of Care and Code of Ethics. Must possess an active RN license. A minimum of two (2) years RN nursing experience and at least one (1) year in the provision in Long-Term care nursing services within the last five (5) years. An updated resume documenting required experience for the program.
