Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Emergency Room Clinical Nurse Educator to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY:
The Emergency Room Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs and resources for nursing staff in the emergency department. This role is essential in ensuring clinical excellence, patient safety, and adherence to evidence-based practices through ongoing education, training, and support. The Clinical Nurse Educator will collaborate with department leadership, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to maintain high standards of care while promoting professional growth and competency in emergency nursing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Education and Training: Design, coordinate, and implement comprehensive educational programs for emergency room (ER) nurses and techs, including new employee orientation, ongoing clinical training, and specialized certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC).
- Clinical Competency: Assess the clinical competency of ER clinical staff and provide guidance and support for continued improvement. Develop strategies to address any identified skill gaps.
- Curriculum Development: Create and update educational materials, workshops, and in-service training to ensure nursing staff are equipped with the latest evidence-based practices, clinical protocols, and emergency care techniques.
- Clinical Practice Support: Provide on-the-floor support and mentorship to nursing staff during high-acuity or complex cases, ensuring quality patient care and adherence to established procedures and protocols. Assist in patient care.
- Collaboration: Work closely with leadership, physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement in patient care.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all education programs comply with hospital policies, accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission), and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evaluating outcomes related to nursing education, training, and clinical practice. Analyze data and trends to improve patient care and staff performance.
- Professional Development: Stay current with emerging trends in emergency nursing and healthcare education, and incorporate new knowledge and techniques into educational offerings.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of educational activities, certifications, and competencies for all nursing staff. Report on educational progress and outcomes to department leadership.

Working Conditions:
- This position is primarily based in the emergency department, with occasional work in classrooms or conference settings.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in emergency nursing. At least 2 years of experience in nursing education, preceptorship, or clinical leadership in an emergency department setting preferred.
Equipment/Technology: Basic computer Knowledge.
Language/Communication: Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and leadership
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers. Able to calculate correct doses by applying necessary formulas as needed.
Mental Capabilities: Ability to problem solve and handle stressful situations. Ability to think and act quickly. Ability to anticipate and prevent problems. Ability to multitask.
Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others. Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
