Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Establishing a new Critical Decision Unit at Lutheran General. This unit will be staffed by a team of APCs during the day in collaboration with our AMG IL Hospital Medicine physicians.
7am-5pm (10 hours)
- Admissions, cross cover pages/calls
- 100% inpatient
- 5 days on/4 days off; Rotational, working on both holidays/weekends
- On call until 9pm while scheduled
Advocate Christ Hospital is seeking a full time Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to join the Hospitalist Team. Acute Care certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record
- National certification as a CNP from an accredited body
- Current Illinois APRN License; Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- Current Illinois Controlled Substance License within 6 months of hire; Eligible for DEA registration/Possession of a current DEA Registration within six months of hire and may vary based on practice site
- Current BLS/PALS/ACLS certification may vary based on practice site
- Ability to work varying hours and shifts to meet the needs of Advocate Health Care. This may include on call coverage
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
- Able to respond quickly to patient needs and work at a fast pace
- Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients.
- Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse hazardous or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick
- This position can recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of patient age groups i.e. understand child growth and development normal patterns of adolescent behavior
Clinical
- Fulfills billing and productivity metrics requirements where appropriate and maintains relevant documentation
- Provides telephone care to various patients
- Completes and documents accurate comprehensive, episodic history and physical assessments
- Performs ordering, conducting, supervising, and interpreting diagnostic laboratory and imaging studies
- Prescribes treatments, and therapies not limited to medications, diet, supplies, prosthetic devices, and equipment
- Implements primary and secondary prevention strategies and management of acute and chronic health problems
- Provides clear, concise, accurate, and legible information regarding patient care in the record
- Formulates a comprehensive plan of care in collaborating with the patient and interdisciplinary team
Professional
- Advocates for patients, families, co-workers, the community, and the PA profession/ nursing profession
- Advises leadership in adoption of organizational change, quality improvement initiatives, best practice research and patient care best practice and integrate evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision making
- Participates in peer review in accordance with privileges, competency assessment activities and maintains appropriate credentialing and privileging requirements
- Seeks experiences and formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and knowledge
- Establishes an effective relationship with the interdisciplinary team and the collaborating physician
- Conducts, assists and/or mentors others in research through participant selection, coordination of the protocol(s), data collection, and other associated activities

Leadership

Licensure:
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Certified
Education/Experience Required:
- Masters of Nursing Degree as APRN/CNP; 2 years RN experience preferred; 1-year APRN/CNP experience in the relevant setting preferred
Active PA license(s) in state(s) of practice, AND
Active PA national board certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Active DEA registration prior to hire, AND
If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire, AND
Active BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical practice prior to or within 6 months of hire
