Summary

This is a remote position and open to all areas**

The Quality Analyst RN retrieves, analyzes, reports and displays data for compliance and quality improvement activities. Conducts concurrent and retrospective record reviews for reporting internally and externally as required. Works with staff and members of medical staff to establish, update and revise criteria for collection of data. Implements, facilitates and coordinates process improvement activities and reports. Works to improve the quality of care provided.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(25%)* Performs concurrent review of quality measures in order to facilitate real-time interventions through communication with medical staff, nursing staff, and collaboration with the Clinical Quality Improvement Specialists to promote measure compliance.

(25%)* Performs retrospective data abstraction of quality measures for submission to The Joint Commission (TJC), Blue Cross Blue Shield, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) utilizing electronic software applications.

(25%)* Works collaboratively with the EMR team and vendor to facilitate software build, package updates, and ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance of quality measure tools.

(25%)* Evaluates data and reporting for improvement opportunities and collaborates with medical and nursing staff in the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives to facilitate enhanced performance and quality measure compliance.

How and when will evidence be gathered

Ensures follow up is completed and issues resolved by assigned timeframe.

Evaluates data collection to ensure relevant and appropriate and makes recommendations for elimination of data collection and monitoring if no longer required by regulatory agencies.

Analyzes data using appropriate statistical techniques and produces presentations for hospital-wide and medical staff Quality Management programs.

Generates reports from clinical database as needed for administrative and clinical leaders verifying data integrity, accuracy and retrievability.

Analyzes identified trends and implements further monitoring and evaluation.

Contributes to process supporting accuracy and completeness of data representing patient demographics, care provided by the organization, etc. as appropriate.

All other duties as assigned.

Certifications and Licensures

CPHQ - Certified Professional in Heal

Preferred

RN - Registered Nurse

Required

Required Education

Education: Associates Degree

Comments: Bachelor's preferred

Other Information

Experience, Training And Skills

Excellent computer skills required including database and spreadsheet experience.

Basic statistical techniques, moderate organization skills, medical terminology and communication skills required.

Three-five years clinical experience.

Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

CPHQ Certification preferred and encouraged.

Physical/Mental Requirements And Typical Working Conditions

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
