The Licensed Practical Nurse provides routine practical nursing work in the care and treatment of residents, under supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Supervisor. The LPN participates in nursing assessments, provides direct clinical (nursing) services that includes medication & treatment administration and basic health care. This LPN performs & documents nursing procedures & techniques as prescribed by the physician and outlined in the resident's Person Centered Plan. The LPN carries out the nursing care plan as developed by the RN & may assist in evaluating the outcome of care. The LPN may also assist the RN with assessment of the residents according to the RN's instruction.
The selected candidate must successfully complete the DHHS medication exam and have the ability to independently administer medications & treatments in a timely, accurate manner following the 6 rights. Selected candidates must also successfully become ceritified in CPR & NCVIF.
***Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.***
This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
LPN licensure in North Carolina, Compact State Licensure, or pending licensure after graduation from a nursing program is required.

As of June 1, 2023, the new salary range will be $38,516.00 - $57,775.00.

- Ability to communicate medical information to residents/families at all levels of understanding using layman's terms within HIPAA guidelines.
- Ability to document subjective and objective data, action taken & plan of care.
- Ability to communicate information to residents, families & staff in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, in writing, or by demonstration.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
