Licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in State of North Carolina.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
OR
Graduate Temporary Permit
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
About the Graduate Temporary Permit from the NC Board of Nursing:
The testing centers for the NCLEX exam have temporarily been closed, and in order to support the current critical needs for LPNs and RNs during the COVID-19 pandemic, NCBON has reinstituted the "Graduate Nurse" status for new North Carolina graduates. Program Directors of Schools of Nursing will determine whether individual students have mastered the required competencies for program completion. Once the Program Director deems a student "eligible for graduation", the individual can apply to NCBON for a "graduate" temporary permit. The temporary permit will allow the graduate nurse (RN and LPN) to practice to their full scope, provided they have RN supervision. This temporary approval is for North Carolina only (a single state license) and is time-limited until the graduate can take the NCLEX exam and complete the fingerprint background check for full licensure.
You can find the complete message at the NC Board of Nursing website: https://www.ncbon.com/news-publications-statistics-important-information-about-covid-19
Once the testing centers open again, nurses hired with Graduate Temporary Permits will be expected to pass the exam to continue to work at our facilities.
