POSITION SUMMARY:
The Emergency Department (ED) Manager is
responsible for overseeing the daily operations and administration of the
hospital's emergency department. This role involves managing clinical and
support staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and
patient-centered emergency care. The Manager is tasked with implementing
policies and procedures, optimizing resource allocation, and maintaining
compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. They will
foster a collaborative and dynamic work environment, utilizing exceptional
leadership skills to guide their team in delivering superior patient outcomes.
The role also requires a focus on integrating evidence-based practices,
assessing performance improvement opportunities, and leading initiatives for
department advancement.
Through strategic planning and innovative
problem-solving, the Emergency Department Manager plays a pivotal role in the
continuous improvement and success of emergency services, while upholding the
organization's vision, mission, and values. The Emergency Department Manager would be multifaced as a working nurse and manager with a
schedule outlined in the capacity of three 8-hour office/administrative
shifts and one 12-hour nursing shifts on the floor with patients and staff.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration,
or related field is preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the
state of practice is required.
- Association* accredited course in Basic Life
Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical
staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period
after the expiration date.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and managerial skills.
- Proficient in communication, consultation,
negotiation, and collaboration.
- Competence in evidence-based practice
integration and quality improvement.
- Analytical skills for data collection and
performance evaluation.
- Effective conflict resolution techniques .
- Minimum of five years of experience in medical
surgical nursing with progressive leadership roles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Promote the vision, mission, and values of the
organization within the ED department.
2. Manage the ED unit operationally and fiscally,
ensuring efficient resource allocation.

Schedule requirements of working manager to be
outlined in the capacity of three 8-hour office/administrative shifts and one

4. Ensure that nursing personnel provide safe,
effective, patient-centered care.
5. Incorporate evidence-based knowledge in
decision-making processes to enhance patient care.
6. Assist nursing staff with integrating evidence-based
practices into their daily routines.
7. Evaluate nursing practices and develop
strategies for continuous improvement.

Plan and deliver educational programs for
nursing personnel to attend based on education department.
9. Act as a clinical resource, supporting the
development of clinical competencies.
10. Facilitate and monitor compliance with
organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
11. Mentor team members, offering guidance,
support, and constructive feedback as needed.
12. Coordinate and manage the implementation of
change within the unit and the organization.
13. Conduct interviews and participate in the
selection process for nursing personnel.
14. Collect and analyze data related to quality
improvement and performance evaluation projects.
15. Promote workplace safety and ensure adherence
to privacy and confidentiality standards.
