Infusion and Oncology Nurse Supervisor
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Infusion and Oncology Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and operations within an oncology unit or department. This role involves ensuring high-quality patient care, coordinating staff activities, managing resources, and providing support and guidance to nursing personnel. The supervisor plays a key role in developing protocols and policies to enhance patient care and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise nursing staff in department, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment for infusion and clinic settings.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Mckenzie Health.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients undergoing treatment for cancer.
- Monitor patient outcomes and implement best practices to improve care quality.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and monitor key performance indicators.
- Provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff on oncology best practices, new treatments, and advancements in patient care. Facilitate continuing education opportunities.
- Work closely with physicians, nurse navigators, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to address patient needs.
- Address concerns and questions from patients and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources throughout their treatment journey.
- Assist in managing departmental budgets, including staffing, supplies, and equipment.
- Optimize resource allocation to enhance patient care while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure staff are trained and prepared for emergency situations, implementing protocols for crisis management as needed.

Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:

- In-depth knowledge of oncology nursing practices and treatment protocols.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, with a strong background in oncology preferred. Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current registered nurse licensure in state of North Dakota
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or similar certification is advantageous.
