Overview of Position:
Plans, provides and/or supervises the nursing care of patients in an efficient and caring manner in the office and in perioperative areas. Coordinates care planning with other caregivers and with other areas, adheres to universal precautions, and is compliant with infection control policies. Works independently with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner in the office and perioperative areas..
2. Assists with preparation of equipment and aids the physician/surgeon during treatment, examination, and surgical procedures of the patient.
3. Arranges for patient testing, admission, and surgical procedures, and obtain and documents insurance precertification for planned procedures.
4. Takes and records measurements or readings.
5. Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient.
6. Administers prescribed medications.
7. Provides leadership while working collaboratively with other care givers on the unit.
8. Is familiar with all surgical procedures, supplies and equipment used for the surgical specialty, and is responsible for preparing the exam rooms in the office suite, including restocking the treatment areas, sterilizing surgical instruments, etc.
9. Take on-call rotation with other surgical nursing staff.
10. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. BSN and current Ohio RN License.
2. Current CPR certification, or obtained within 30 days of employment.
3. One-year experience in acute care setting, particularly in perioperative nursing care.
4. Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff.
5. Attention to detail.
6. Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, and guide others.
7. Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.
8. Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care.
