Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist is a skilled member of the allied health care team, who is expected to practice at the highest level of their licensure. This requires providers to stay up to date with the latest evidence based medicine. They work collaboratively with the Physician Hospitalist to facilitate acute care of the adult patient. This individual works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, case managers and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach. The nurse practitioner participates in all aspects of care of the hospitalized patient including admissions, discharge, daily rounds and patient education.
This role will be a 7on/7off rotation with a 8am-5pm schedule.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Masters, Post-Masters in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP)/ Physician Assistant degree from an accredited nursing program within the APNP’s specialty area which included supervised clinical practicum.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Some previous nursing experience in a hospital setting.
Preferred/Optional: Three years’ experience as a staff nurse or nurse practitioner in a hospital setting preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required:
- License requirement- Active RN license and an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification for the State of WI.
- Certification requirement- Current certification by the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or an equivalent body recognized by the state of Wisconsin for care of the Adult Patient Population.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. Adult Gerontology NP or Adult Acute Care NP Certification.
