Position Summary

Position provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology; works under physician oversight as required by state regulation, and functions within the scope of practice defined by the NP’s specialty certification, BJH medical by-laws, and, where it exists, the collaborative practice agreement.

The role of this NP position is to support and collaborate in the care of children with diabetes and endocrine diagnoses and supporting the physicians within the growing division.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Providesdirectpatientcaretoincludeobtaining patienthistory,performingpatient assessmentviaobservation,interviewandexamination;orders,performs,and interpretsdiagnosticstudies;performspreventativehealthassessments,screening, immunizationsandcare;providesdirecttreatmentandmanagementofacuteand chronicdiseaseconditions;developsandimplementspatient-centeredplanofcarein collaborationwithphysicians,patients,consultants,nurses,ancillarycareproviders, andothersas appropriateto thepatient’scondition.
Manageshealthconditionsviaprescriptiveauthorityorreferraltoother healthcare providersor communityresources;mayperformdiagnosticor therapeuticinterventions consistentwithcertificationandstateregulations.
Providescounselingandeducationofpatients andtheirfamilies/caregiversconcerning preventativehealth,treatmentoptions,andcommunity resources.
Monitors/ensuresaccuracyofpatientmedicalrecords,maintainsallrequiredreports, records,statistics,etc.
Maintainsasafe,comfortable,andtherapeutic environmentforpatients/familiesin accordance withestablishedclinic/hospitalstandards.
Providesmanagementservicesforclinicalresearchstudyprojects;monitors participatingsubjects,includingmedicationadministrationandfamily/patient education.
Worksinaccordance withestablisheddepartmentalpoliciesandprocedures,objectives, qualityassuranceprogram,safety,environmental,andinfectioncontrolstandards.
Regularlyparticipatesinconstantqualityimprovementandprocess improvement activitiescenteredonthe goalofprovidingexceptional,evidence-basedpatientcare.
Enhancesprofessionalgrowthanddevelopmentthrougheducationalprograms.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
