Don't miss this opportunity to join our team at WashU Department of Pediatric Allergy & Pulmonary Medicine.
This group consists of 20 attending physicians, 9 fellow physicians, and 5 nurse practitioners. This position is at our St. Louis Children's Hospital location supporting our growing Pediatric Pulmonary clinics in an outpatient setting.
This is a Monday - Friday daytime role with no evenings or weekends. This positions also offers a hybrid work option for non-clinic days.
The NP will work collaboratively with the Pulmonary team to provide clinical care for pediatric patients with general Pediatric Pulmonary diagnoses including comprehensive asthma management. The ideal candidate would have two years of Pediatric NP experience. Works under physician oversight as required by state regulation, and functions within the scope of practice defined by the NP’s specialty certification, and the collaborative practice agreement.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs advance practice care in collaboration with physician. Provides direct patient care to include obtaining patient history, performing patient assessment via observation, interview and examination; orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies; performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care; provides direct treatment and management of acute and chronic disease conditions; develops and implements patient-centered plan of care in collaboration with physicians, patients, consultants, nurses, ancillary care providers, and others as appropriate to the patient’s condition.
- Manages health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources; may perform diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification and state regulations.
- May bill for services covered by collaborative practice agreement.
- Responsible for renewing or adjusting patient prescriptions.
- Serves as a role model, mentor and preceptor for staff and nurses.
- Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
- Monitors/ensures accuracy of patient medical records, maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established clinic/hospital standards.
- Provides management services for clinical research study projects; monitors participating subjects, including medication administration and family/patient education.
- Works in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Regularly participates in constant quality improvement and process improvement activities centered on the goal of providing exceptional, evidence-based patient care.

Salary Range
Base pay is commensurate with experience.The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
