Duties Description

Greater Binghamton Health Center is recruiting a Director Nursing 3 Psychiatric to serve as the Chief Nursing Officer and a member of the facility’s executive management team. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

As the Director Nursing 3 Psychiatric, you will oversee and manage Greater Binghamton Health Center’s nursing department including nursing and direct care services provided to individuals with mental illness in inpatient, outpatient, residential and community setting:

Implementing nursing policies, procedures, programs, goals, and objectives
Overseeing recruitment, training, and continuing education for nursing and direct care staff
Monitoring staffing, assignments, and scheduling to ensure quality care
Ensuring nursing operations is in compliance with laws, regulations, and standards of care
Preparing for regulatory visits and surveys

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Director Nursing 3 Psychiatric if they have:

NYS license and current registration as a registered professional nurse; and
Bachelor’s degree in nursing; and
3 years of post-licensure clinical and administrative nursing experience. 2 years of this experience must have been in a nursing management position with overall responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing programs and services in a mental health, developmental disabilities, addictions, or long-term care setting or psychiatric program in a health care setting.

Substitution: Master's in nursing can substitute for 1 year of non-managerial post-licensure clinical nursing experience.

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Director Nursing 2 Psychiatric eligible list.

Additional Comments:

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for M/C M-4 ($123,793), an Increase Hiring Rate ($21,620), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($156,224), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000).

If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
