Labor and Delivery RN Education and Skills

In order to become a labor and delivery RN, you’ll need either an associate degree in nursing (ADN) or a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). For some RN labor and delivery jobs, a BSN is preferred. 

In addition to upholding an unobstructed nursing license, you will likely need to have certification in basic life support (BLS), advanced care life support (ACLS), and/or the neonatal resuscitation program (NRP). Clinical experience in related specialties like pediatric RN jobs, OB-GYN RN jobs, or postpartum RN jobs can give you an advantage in your job search.
