Job Summary

Administer anesthesia, monitor patient's vital signs, and oversee patient recovery from anesthesia. Responsible for providing quality health care in coordination with a designated physician.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work cooperatively and collaboratively with physicians and surgeons, allied practitioners, hospital staff and the other employed or contracted certified registered nurse anesthetists to meet Minidoka’s anesthesia needs.
Perform pre-surgery anesthesia assessments in coordination with the attending surgeon.
Administer and monitor anesthesia in all surgical cases to which CRNA is assigned in coordination with the attending surgeon.
Be responsive to and attend to patients in the emergency department as requested by emergency department medical providers.
Respond to patient codes and assist with patient resuscitation when appropriate.
Adhere to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations; the standard of care in the Community; relevant licensure and accreditation standards; and Minidoka’s bylaws, rules and policies, including but not limited to Minidoka’s employment policies.
Provide services in a professional, responsible, non-disruptive manner, and promote respect, cooperation and teamwork among Minidoka personnel and other health care professionals.
Respond to patient and surgeon needs and concerns regarding patient diagnosis and treatment as expeditiously as reasonably possible, and consult with, and be available for consultation with, other practitioners as reasonably required for effective patient care.
Document CRNA’s services in a timely and sufficient manner consistent with applicable professional standards and Minidoka policies so as to facilitate proper patient care, payment for such patient care, and effective Minidoka operations.
To the extent consistent with quality patient care, provide Services in an efficient and cost-effective manner so as to maintain and enhance the efficiency and productivity of Minidoka.
Attend Minidoka medical staff meetings and such other meetings as reasonably required by Minidoka.
Participate in appropriate continuing medical education and engage in such other activities as reasonably necessary to maintain and improve CRNA’s skill and competence.
Actively participate in and contribute to quality improvement activities to improve the overall patient experience and patient safety within the Surgical Services Department to include interdepartmental collaboration.
Contribute to implementation and revision of evidence-based practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and clinical protocols for the care of surgical and/or anesthesia patients.
Promptly notify Minidoka of: (i) any claim, allegation, or professional review activity asserted against Provider relating to Provider’s professional conduct or competence or compliance with applicable laws or regulations; (ii) Physician’s failure to satisfy the Qualifications required by this Agreement; or (iii) any acts, omissions, or other facts or circumstances that may result in liability to Minidoka.
Adhere to such other performance standards as reasonably established by Minidoka or its medical staff from time to time.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Idaho licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Three (3) years’ experience of anesthesia care in acute setting

Skills/Competencies

Strong patient assessment skills
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, interpersonal relations, customer service, adaptability, and change management.
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing PC applications.
Ability to manage a chaotic work environment related to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes

Physical Requirements

Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors.
