Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager and the Director of the Emergency Department Charge Nurse is a management position responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and providing quality patient care in the department and pursuant to the position accountabilities set forth below. He/She is a facilitator for efficient patient flow and throughput in the department and improves the overall productivity of staff members by maintaining smooth and efficient organization of the department. In collaboration with the Manager and Director of Emergency Services, he/she helps develop and implement goals to improve patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

Current California RN license
ALS, BLS, PALS certification, and nonviolent crisis intervention certification
Completes yearly supplemental competency validation
Meets requirements in Level II Emergency RN Clinical Ladder and Job Descriptions
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
Must have visual and auditory acuity of responsibilities listed
Must be able to lift, position, and turn patients using proper body mechanics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications

CEN
BSN
Membership in a professional organization
Member of hospital committee
Meets requirements in Level III Emergency RN Clinical Ladder and Job Description
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
