Clinical Nurse Educator

The Clinical Educator is responsible for the planning and provision of educational offerings for all nursing staff through supporting the foundational aspects of entry into practice, as well as continuing education of experienced staff. The Clinical Educator is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational needs and initiatives to enhance the quality of patient care. This position will work collaboratively with departmental leadership and work to continuously improve both the patient and staff experience within Cayuga Health System. The Clinical Educator effectively provides and promotes person-centered care, nursing best practices, and staff engagement in a commitment to excellence.
This position will have Cayuga Health System educational responsibilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Identifies learning needs for the nursing organization through research including a Needs Assessment.
- Recommends orientation, training and education programs that will enhance employee performance, satisfaction and continued development.
- Assists staff in learning computer updates relating to patient/staff education and information needs.
- Uses Evidenced Based Practice to guide decisions and staff with new initiatives, practice changes and implementation.
- Provides education in an organized manner to all nursing staff. Educates and updates staff on policy changes, new equipment, and process changes within departments and the organization.
- Ensures orientation and continuing education, preparation and implementation meet the Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health Standards and certification programs.
- Participates in the development and training of new hire onboarding and orientation programs
- This will be a primarily M-F day shift position with the ability to flex as needed to meet the needs of the staff and the position with an estimated 40 hours per week.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 Years Clinical Experience
- BLS, ACLS within 1 year of hire
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree or Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred
- 3 years in Program Leadership desired
- Experience in program management leading and managing healthcare programs
Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
Location and Travel Requirements:
- Will be required to travel between Schuyler Hospital and Cayuga Medical Center for orientation and training coverage.
Pay Range Disclosure:
- $87,588 to $120,640 per year
