Under general supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care and related nursing services under the direction of a Public Health Physician and senior level professional nursing staff. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment with occasional exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids and frequent exposure to infectious diseases. Exercises functional supervision over assigned staff.
This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Work Hours
7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
- Assesses immunization status and administers age appropriate vaccines to infants, children, adolescents and adult clients.
- Counsels and recommends information to international travelers and administers appropriate immunizations.
- Assists with the orientation, teaching, and supervision of assigned staff.
- Provides skilled nursing care to individuals and families.
- Provides immunization information to staff, clients, other professionals and the public.
- Administers medications, vaccines, and lab work in accordance with proper standards.
- Assesses client needs and follows up with appropriate referral for problems at a clinical level.
- Participates in case conferences with physicians, hospital personnel, and representatives of other agencies.
- Maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies; orders vaccines and other medical supplies.
- Conveys information regarding the policies, functions, and philosophy of the department to professional organizations and other community groups as assigned.
- Collects and compiles daily revenue reports.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- License to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Community health experience.
- Experience working with Tuberculosis/Infectious Disease patients.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
- Current CPR/AED/BLS Certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- Excellent Computer Skills.
