The Sexual Health Clinic (SHC) at the Massachusetts General Hospital is a growing, vibrant practice that provides excellent patient-centered clinical care. We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This commitment applies to staff members at all levels as well as the patient populations we care for. The SHC is looking to hire a Nurse Practitioner (NP) who demonstrates these same values to join our team.
The SHC provides comprehensive screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP, both oral and injectable formulations), doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis for STIs, sexual health vaccines, and HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP). We care for patients of all genders ages 13 and above with concerns for STIs, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV. We provide care in several locations, including MGH-Boston, the MGH-Chelsea Health Center, the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS), Boston GLASS at the Justice Resource Institute (JRI), and the Boston Alliance of Gay and Lesbian Youth (BAGLY). The NP will be central to the function and success of our work.
The NP will work with and under the supervision of the SHC’s Medical Director and works with the Sexual Health Clinic’s multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality care to all patients, including those who identify as LGBTQ+, who are uninsured or underinsured, and/or those with substance use disorders. In this role, the NP will complete focused histories, physical examinations, and assessments; formulate differential diagnoses; and prescribe and counsel about medications, including PrEP and nPEP as needed. The NP assists with the education of members of the MGH community – students, nurses, residents, fellows, and physicians – who rotate through the clinic, as well as nurses and medical providers from outside MGH who come to the clinic through educational mechanisms like the Center for Disease Control (CDC)-sponsored courses in STI prevention and treatment.
The NP may participate in research protocols as time and interest allow.
The NP will practice in accordance with the rules, regulations and standards of nursing practice issued by the state and federal governing boards, including the Academy of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
This part-time position supports a pilot initiative to increase clinic access for underserved populations and is grant-funded through September 30, 2025. The leadership of the Sexual Health Clinic is working to extend funding beyond that date. This position is flexible, but can be expected to include afternoon, evening and Saturday morning clinic sessions or other community events up to 16 hours per week.
