About The Outer Banks Hospital
The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.

Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for handling administrative tasks and performs diverse duties for nursing department. Also provides specific basic nursing care to patients, under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
Follows departmental guidelines for absences and tardiness. Is flexible with and participates collaboratively with unit self scheduling. Resolves staffing conflicts. Attends at least 75% of unit staff meetings, and mandatory unit or hospital based in-services.
Participates in elective education offerings. Is an active participant in unit and/or hospital based communities. Practices collaboratively with colleagues and others members of healthcare team. Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice. Greets and directs patients, visitors and staff in courteous manner.
Complies with allotted break and meal times. Shift reports and communications are timely, pertinent and accurate. Participates in temporary assignment measures of department.
Can order and obtain other supplies as needed by unit. Will proactively seek out knowledge of how to order and obtain. Orders and maintains supplies as needed for unit function smoothly. Know ordering process.
Can promptly and accurately order lab work, radiology procedures, cardiopulmonary, consults and dietary orders utilizing SMS system. Can promptly and accurately transcribe physician orders utilizing SMS systems, MAR and patient charts.
Accurately files diagnostic reports (lab, radiology, etc) in medical record. Reports are filed in a timely manner. Maintains unit logs and enters patient charges in timely and accurate manner. Accurately assembles new charts/chart packs as needed. Breaks down discharge/old charts accurately and in timely fashion. Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
Is aware of standard of practice for profession or specialty and integrates such into daily practice. Maintains orderly and hazard free work area (secretary station, nursing stations, kitchen, lounge, storage areas, hallways). Follow established infection control/stand precautions policies and procedures. Can use phone system appropriately.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of Nursing Assistant Course, current certification as CNAI in the state of North Carolina, current listing on the CNAI Registry with the Department of Facility Services.
Current American Heart Association BLS is required.
Knowledge of computer and other office equipment required. Ability to manage numerous projects and set priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant.
