Join Our Team as a Student Nurse Extern- Summer 2025

Are you a nursing student eager to gain hands-on clinical experience while advancing your career in a supportive and dynamic healthcare environment? At MedStar Georgetown University Hospital we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Student Nurse Externs to join our team.

Position Highlights:

As a Student Nurse Extern in our Summer 2025 cohort, you will work closely under the supervision of Clinical Nurses to provide compassionate patient care and perform essential clinical tasks. This role offers the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you’ve learned in nursing school while contributing to a culture of quality and excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

·Assist with monitoring patient conditions and report changes to the appropriate staff.

·Provide support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as feeding, dressing, and mobility assistance.

·Participate in intentional rounding to ensure patient comfort and safety.

·Document bedside care and treatments, including recording vital signs, intake/output, and patient observations.

·Support nursing staff in clinical procedures, admissions, discharges, and post-mortem care.

·Maintain clean and organized clinical environments, equipment, and supply rooms.

Qualifications:

·Currently enrolled in a BSN program and in good academic standing.

·Must have completed your junior year of nursing school, including at least one semester of medical-surgical training.

·Hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Healthcare Provider CPR certifications.
