Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, this position provides daily nursing care, training, activities, and treatment to the people who live at the Regional Centers in accordance with all licensing and certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Policies and Procedures.
- Administers routine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.
- Monitors health conditions of the individuals and reports findings to medical provider and appropriatestaff. Assists physician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed.
- Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
- Ensures accountability and protection from harm for all individuals through appropriate and thorough documentation.
- Reviews Monthly Medication Administration Record (MAR) and 90-day recertification orders, completes healthcare records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM Evaluations. Assists with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. Properly documents as needed.
- Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limited to, participation in on-call rotation procedure.
The salary range for this position is $52,000 to $57,396 and will be based on verified work-related nursing experience as indicated on the candidate’s application. This position is eligible for up to $3.75/hourshift differential for applicable shifts! Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act. Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina. Knowledge of practical nursing procedures. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices. Knowledge of the human anatomy. Ability to maintain attention to detail. Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team. Ability to lift and move individuals.General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to work in a group home like setting or ICF. Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
