Street Medicine team
.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- 80% FTE
- Friday – Sunday 9 hour shifts, Monday 5 hour shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Pioneer Square Downtown Programs focus on providing care for Harborview’s mission population to address health equity issues by increasing access to care in our unique primary care settings, homeless shelters, housing programs or community setting for people experiencing homelessness or are vulnerably housed. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a collaborative approach in client-centered care provision.
This is an outreach position with a home base in the Pioneer Square Downtown Programs, however, may on occasion require working in other sites within the Downtown Programs.

- Opportunity to provide career growth PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outreach, engagement, and direct care aimed towards our unhoused population within the Seattle area including but not limited to encampments, tent cities, streets, under bridges, shelters, etc.
- Receive and respond to referrals from Harborview Medical Center’s Emergency Department, Inpatient units, and Medical Respite programs to support transitions of care for our unhoused population REQUIREMENTS:
- Nurse Practitioner:Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursingAND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privilegesAND National certification as a Nurse PractitionerAND ACLS certificationOR
- Physician Assistant:Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA).Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positionsAND ACLS certificationAND
- Experience working with people with behavioral health disorders and complex medical issues
- Ability to collaborate with outside agencies to facilitate primary care
- Experience working with people who are unhoused
- Experience working with diverse populations including limited English proficiency and immigrants
- A passion for working with people experiencing homelessness or who are vulnerably housed
