The Northeast Health District’s Specialty Care Clinic is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing and clinical care services in accordance with nurse protocols for clients with HIV/AIDS. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience working with culturally diverse and/or vulnerable populations, including sexual minorities and persons who have mental health or substance misuse disorders. The Specialty Care Clinic is the primary provider of Ryan White services for patients across the Northeast Health District’s 10 counties: Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton. The position is based in Athens, GA and does not offer relocation assistance. Must be within a reasonable commuting distance. If relocating to Athens, GA, please specify on the application.
Job Summary / Duties:
Under general supervision, this expanded role Public Health Nurse (PHN) works on a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for coordinating and providing assessment, planning, implementation, and related clinical services in a primary care outpatient setting for clients who have HIV/AIDS and other associated health conditions. This position plays an essential role supporting clients through the HIV Care Continuum, utilizing outreach and harm reduction principles and practices to engage and retain clients in care to achieve long-term viral suppression.
General duties include but are not limited to:
- Fulfill nurse protocol training requirements in HIV, STD, Immunization, and other relevant areas to function as an expanded role PHN.
- Provide direct nursing care including physical assessments, education, treatment, and develop and document a plan of care consistent with the clients’ level of need.
- Screen and refer clients to other community services providers as needed. Assist with referrals and follow-up treatment planning as indicated.
- Provide sexual health promotion and prevention education, including counseling clients and family regarding the importance of medication adherence for viral suppression.
- Participate in staff meetings and assist with developing and implementing quality improvement projects as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records, assist with data entry and quality assurance monitoring such as internal chart audits and grant reporting.
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification
OR
Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.

Employment Information
