REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a nursing student entering their last year of nursing school with a graduation date between June 2026 – May 2027.
IMPORTANT DATES:

Program Duration: 8 Weeks, Beginning June 9th, 2025
SCHEDULE:
- 36-40 hours, three, 12-hour shifts a week following orientation.
- Candidates must have the flexibility to work either day or night shifts to match the schedule of the preceptor they are paired with.
COMPENSATION:
• $16.00 hour

JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a UVA Community Health Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
• Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedures to promote patient health and wellness.
• Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
• Performs administrative support functions.
• Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
Patient Care: Works with team members to develop or improve processes to assure a remarkable patient experience.
- Creates and maintains a healthy work environment that results in improved patient outcomes, retention, and organizational excellence.
- Collaborates with physicians to develop or improve processes surrounding care of patients.
- Coordinates the provision of patient care through delegation, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
Quality: Works in partnership with leaders to create, support, and maintain a culture of professional accountability.
- Partners with family and patients to resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care.
- Assures that team members provide care that is consistent with The Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements.
Communication: Ensures timely and consistent communication to provide exemplary care.
- Provides progress updates to team members in a timely manner.
- Utilizes communication methods and tools to deliver information that improves quality of personal and organizational decisions.
- Collaborates with physicians to develop or improve processes surrounding care of patients.
- Assists with conducting departmental meetings.

Medical Knowledge: Demonstrates core knowledge of biomedical and clinical sciences and the application of this knowledge to patient care.

- Develops and implements plan for self-development and succession planning.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic
required. BSN students who have completed their 3rd year; ASN students who have completed their 1st year.
