Essential Job Functions
- Under the direction of the RN preceptor, provides patient care through an interdisciplinary approach by assessing, planning, providing care and evaluating outcomes. Assures necessary communication with the healthcare team to assist the patient in meeting their goals.
- Under the direction of the RN preceptor, performs nursing interventions and documents according to policy and procedure assuring patient safety. Ie: medication administration, medication reconciliation, fall prevention, VTE prevention, and all prescribed interventions as appropriate.
- Assists the RN preceptor in the practice of professional nursing by providing direct patient care to promote patient comfort and facilitate the performance of diagnostic and treatment procedures as outlined in the nursing care plan. Performs assigned tasks that make include activities of daily living such as dietary and hygiene needs. Assists in ambulating, turning, and positioning patients as well as transporting patients, answering call lights, and reporting observations to the patient’s nurse.
- Demonstrates professional behavior, strong customer service and communication skill, when interacting with all individuals and groups, both internally and externally.
- Assists the RN with indirect care by maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment to prevent and / or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse Program approved by the State Board of Nursing
- When enrolled in a BSN program: the student must be entering their senior year and have completed at least the medical/surgical clinical component of his/her educational experience.
- When enrolled in a Diploma/Associate program: the student must be entering their final year of nursing school.
- Must present proof of continued enrollment and passing grade(s) in nursing classes each semester until graduation and is in good academic standing
Preferred Qualifications
License, Certification & Clearances
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required.
- Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Incumbent will be scheduled based on the Registered Nurse preceptor schedule with priority to accommodate school schedule
- Travel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations.
