'RN-Intake Nurse – Infectious Disease Clinic (Rancho Mirage)'

- The position is responsible for the intake process for all patients referred to the Clinic and Infusion Center for evaluation and treatment.

Qualifications
- Education
  - Required: BSN or MSN or enrollment in an RN-BSN or RN-MSN program within 1 year of hire and completion within 5 years of hire if hired after July 1, 2012
- Licensure/Certification
  - Required: Current RN License, American Heart Association BLS
  - Preferred: OCN Certificate
- Experience
  - Required: Minimum three years Oncology experience
Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Prioritizes and triages all clinic referrals and Infusion an orders to ensure urgent orders are processed according to need and acuity. immediately.
- Partners, communicates and collaborates regularly and frequently with infusion center charge nurse to promote patient safety and continuity.
- Ensures that orders are complete and authorized, insurance approval has been obtained and that patients are prepared and educated about treatments to be received.
- Oversees scheduling to ensure adequate chair side time is allowed for scheduled treatment.
- Accepts verbal orders for physician referrals.
- Gathers patient personal health information and health history in private area and performs an initial assessment of patient’s condition and needs.
- Coaches and educates staff nurses regarding clinical questions.
- Orients, instructs and trains assigned personnel.
- Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Demonstrates ability to tailor nursing care based on unique requirements of patients’ age, cultural and developmental needs.
- Develops or identifies appropriate patient education materials. Ensures all patients receive adequate information related to their therapy regimen.
- Improves and maintains patient satisfaction score goals in patient satisfaction related to specific questions addressing education on treatment.
- Investigates family, patient or physician complaints and reports unsolved problems to the Director.
- Monitors patient flow in clinic waiting room and treatment area to ensure wait times are minimized.
- Gives verbal and written input on annual evaluations.
- Develops nursing policies and procedures for the department with the Director and updates annually.
- Participates in educational programs, professional affiliations, in service meetings and workshops to enhance professional growth.
- Manages recall list.
- Triage's calls placed to the infusion center, including assessing needs regarding treatment issues related to current/upcoming treatment, complications and treatment side effects. Consults with physician regarding options to alleviate side effects or need for office visit.
- Supports clinic back office staff with all facets of patient care and phone/message management.
- Inspects daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
