Description

The Director, Critical Care and Progressive Care Unit is a Registered Professional Nurse who is accountable for serving the Patient Care Division of Bradley Medical Center and assuring the validity of the care administered to patients on assigned clinical areas. This position is responsible for the management and coordination of all nursing activities and patient care on a twenty-four hour per day, seven day per week basis. This position is also accountable for selecting, developing and evaluating subordinates for the assurance of a high degree of productivity and positive morale, and the best utilization of individual and group potential. This position is also responsible for the financial plan development in areas of responsibility. This director will successfully function in collaboration with physician leadership as a collaborative management team. This position requires providing strategic planning, oversight and program planning and development. Will effectively evaluate the outcomes of the service process and make recommendations for change. Will utilize the plan, do check, act and lean six sigma for performance improvement. Other responsibilities include financial management, operations management, performance improvement and JCAHO compliance for the Progressive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Master’s Degree Preferred. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training preferred. ACLS and BLS required. CCRN highly preferred or must be completed within one year of hire.

Licensure: Current Tennessee RN License.

Experience: A minimum of five years of progressive management and professional experience in an Intensive Care Unit. Previous director experience preferred. At least three years of experience in Cardiac Intensive Care required

Skills: Nursing skills as defined in the Law Governing the Practice of Nursing in Tennessee. Requires interpersonal skills and ability to learn management skills. Must be able to be dogmatic, fair and express needs to management as well as physicians.
