Position: RN / Registered Nurse / Wound Care / FT / Days
POSITION SUMMARY: The Wound Care RN has multiple roles and functions including care-giver, decision-maker, client advocate, manager, rehabilitator, comforter, communicator, and teacher for patients within Northwest Healthcare System inpatient setting. The functions include assessment of the nursing needs of the patient, initiation of the plan of care of nurse action, implementation of the plan of care and the evaluation of the process, by use of the nursing process. The RN promotes the dignity and quality of the nursing care given to the patient. The Wound Care RN is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring and overseeing patients prone to skin integrity issues at Northwest Healthcare, selected by monitoring Braden Scores on the inpatients on a daily basis. A large portion of this role is staff and patient and staff education, with prevention of skin breakdown as the primary objective of this role. Serves as an advisor to Nursing Leadership on executing evidenced based practice and preventative measures in the inpatient setting. Collaborates with the Wound Care Team on a daily basis. Supports an organizational culture for safety and Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

- Demonstrates leadership in the development and facilitation of organizational strategies and infrastructure to support clinical quality, operational effectiveness, interdisciplinary collaboration and integration of staff into the NWTHS culture.
- Maintains regulatory compliance as related to The Joint Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Board of Nursing

Qualifications EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- One year RN clinical nursing experience following RN licensure
- Obtains Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing certification (WOCNCB)
- Current BLS certification and maintain certification throughout employment
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal relationships, communication skills and skills as a leader and facilitate for process improvement and redesign teams.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with diverse groups and multiple disciplines
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to mentor and inspire others
- Ability to facilitate group processes toward defined outcomes.
