Job Highlights
- Behavioral evaluations and interventions: Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) as the primary treatment model used on NSC which allows for each child’s problem behaviors to be assessed. Every child has an individualized behavior plan created by a psychologist/BCBA that is implemented during a child’s admission. Data will be collected throughout their admission to measure the effectiveness of treatment. When necessary, additional assessments will be administered to better understand a child’s behavioral presentation or diagnosis.
- Structured milieu setting: NSC enhances learning opportunities and promotes social skills by providing each child with consistent structure in a therapeutic milieu with peers. Children participate in multiple groups daily learning about skills including: friendship, coping skills, executive functioning, life skills, and more!
- Medication management and adjustments, as necessary: Medications may enhance each child’s learning opportunity by helping reduce overwhelming issues including pain, anxiety, irritability, impulsivity, symptoms of anxiety and depression and more.
- Teaching opportunities for families and community providers: We teach caregivers how to implement comprehensive intervention plans specific to each child’s strengths and needs in order to decrease problem behaviors and increase pro-social behaviors at home and in community settings. By working closely with families and each child’s outside providers (e.g. therapists, doctors, school team, etc.), we strive for a smooth transition out of the hospital setting.
