About the unit
We are able to provide care for long term care residents and post-acute rehab patients. Nurse-patient ratios vary depending on the shift and the population you will be serving. Each designated unit focuses on patient specialties, such as general rehab, neuro rehab, traumatic brain injuries and cancer. Cedar Street offers various programs for residents to participate in including music therapy, expressive arts and a garden room.
About Rehab and Nursing Center Cedar
The Rehabilitation & Nursing Center – Cedar was designed with the word “home” in mind. The home is more spacious than the previous 52-year-old Fuller Street facility and boasts many new amenities, including four spacious interior courtyards; a new dining room; on-site dialysis den; art room, private and semiprivate rooms with their own window, restroom and shower; modern furnishings; and new technology, to make these community members feel at home.
Scope of work
Registered Nurse (RN)
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Under the direction of the RN/Mid-level Provider/Physician and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, contributes to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Informs patients and families about treatments and medications being received, equipment being utilized, and other related activities as appropriate, in coordination with the RN/Mid-level Provider/Physician. Documents care provided via computer/written patient record in a manner consistent with guidelines.
Our typical shifts are as follows:
- 12 hours shifts days: 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Every third weekend
- 8 hours shift: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Every other weekend

Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN)
- Associates in Nursing or Graduate from LPN Program Required
- Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN)
- Associates in Nursing Required
- MI Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
