InterCommunity, Inc is a FQHC LA (Federally Qualified Health Center Look Alike). Our health center provides same-day primary care services to every member of the community, regardless of life situation or ability to pay. We also provide a wide array of behavioral health services. Our community Health Care Centers are located at 281 Main St. East Hartford, 16 Coventry St. Hartford and 828 Sullivan Ave., South Windsor. InterCommunity’s Addiction Services offers a similarly wide range of substance use treatment and recovery-supportive services, with many sites in the Hartford area. We provide services across the spectrum of care, including primary care, residential detoxification and substance use treatment, multiple levels of residential care, outpatient substance use disorder and mental health services for adults and children, intensive outpatient programs, employment and community support, mobile crisis evaluations, judicial support services and social rehabilitation.

Summary: The Schedule consists of Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm

InterCommunity HealthCare is currently seeking an Administrative Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a combination of medical administrative duties and medical assisting duties. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. The Administrative Medical Assistant will ensure smooth operations and support healthcare professionals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As an Administrative Medical Assistant at InterCommunity HealthCare, you will be responsible for a variety of medical secretary and medical assisting duties. This includes answering calls, verifying insurance, scanning and indexing documents, as well as assisting with patient care when needed.

Answering calls and providing information to patients and healthcare professionals
Verifying insurance coverage
Scanning and indexing medical records and documents
Rooming patients and gathering vital signs
Assisting with prior authorizations for medical procedures and treatments
Performing phlebotomy and other point-of-care testing
Gathering patient medical history and updating electronic health records
Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient care
Maintaining cleanliness and organization in patient care areas
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, care plans, progress notes, and services rendered.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and healthcare policies and procedures.
Adhere to all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
Always maintain patient confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education &/Or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensed through an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Holds a valid registered medical assisting accreditation preferred.
At least 2-3 years of experience working in a medical setting.
Bilingual English to Spanish preferred
