Located on the downtown Orlando campus, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies opened in 2006, providing programs and services focused on the unique needs of women and newborns. Specialized care covers all facets of women's health, from comprehensive gynecological services and minimally invasive surgeries to obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies and births. The hospital is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care and is certified in perinatal care by The Joint Commission. Welcoming nearly 14,000 babies each year, the hospital’s 350 beds include 142 neonatal intensive care beds, making it one of the largest neonatal intensive care units under one roof in the country. Women’s Intensive Care Unit/Rapid Response Nurse
The function of Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies (WPHWB) Women’s Intensive Care Unit (WICU) is based on the primary care model principles. As a Level III Perinatal Center, the Women’s Intensive Care Unit provides comprehensive care on a 24-hour, 7-day a week basis.
The unit has five beds to provide highly skilled medical and nursing care to the critically ill female patient. Clinically, the unit provides advanced hemodynamic monitoring, artificial airway and ventilator management, obstetrical monitoring and other treatments that are necessary to aggressively treat the complex acutely ill and critically ill female patient.
Care of the patient is through a multi-disciplinary team including the medical and/or surgical critical care Intensivist and the maternal-fetal medical team services to meet and exceed our customers’ needs through quality patient/family care, treatment, patient and family education, collaborative practice, and continuous improvement of our processes.
Position Summary
The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) is responsible for the shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure delivery of highquality service and optimal patient flow. In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nurse
Manager (ANM), provides guidance and direction on unit operations including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, shared leadership, and quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Manages staffing for assigned and oncoming shifts, based on patient acuity to ensure patient care needs are met.
• Manages patient flow and intervenes to achieve expected outcomes.
• Coordinates patient flow by working directly with the Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expect4ed outcomes.
• Monitors overall status of patients within area of responsibility and closely monitors status of seriously ill patients.
• Provides input with the clinical evaluation of team members.
• Assists in the coordination and participates in the delivery of patient care ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

Leadership
• Ensures clinical resources are sufficient to meet the needs of the patients.
• Collaborates with the ANM in determining staffing requirements and takes action to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity.
• Expresses ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication to team members and groups
• Advocates on behalf of the nursing staff to represent the concerns of patients, families, and staff.
• Implements strategies that promote education, health, and safety.
Appropriate Clinical Practice Knowledge

• Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide nursing care needed as described in the unit/department’s policies and procedures.

• Monitors compliance and outcomes to identify issues and trends and leads the team on process/quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensures practice changes evidence-based, promote high-quality nursing practice, and are consistent with research, organization, and national standards.
Qualifications
Education/Training
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.
Licensure/Certification
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population:
o Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
o Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
o Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS)
o Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
Experience
Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
