Providing compassionate care to the children, teenagers and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is located on the downtown Orlando campus and includes 156 licensed beds for specialized care for children as well as the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021.
Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children PACU is seeking Lincensed Partical Nurse.Licensed Partical Nurse provides and documents individualized patient care to include patient evaluation, education, medication administration, IV therapy, treatments and patient safety as directed by the RN or provider.
Shift: Full-Time, Varies
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.
• Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
• Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
• Documents patient data, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific guidelines
• Able to perform triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining next step in care, working in collaboration as directed by the department nursing team or provider(s).
• Appropriately administer oral and injectable medications or immunizations per LPN scope and as directed by a provider.
• Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patient and family.
• Assumes an active role in keeping informed about changes in hospital policy, procedure, and equipment.
• Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
• Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on the assigned unit.
• Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
For Perioperative Anesthesia:
• Demonstrates through clinical practice a clear understanding of aseptic technique and has a working knowledge of the specialized equipment and supplies utilized by the Anesthesiologist/CRNA/SRNA.
• Demonstrates knowledge of standards and recommended practices for the perioperative setting. Shares own knowledge with colleagues.
• Provides anesthesia equipment and supplies based on identified needs in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
• Assists anesthesia personnel with the administration of general, spinal, and regional anesthesia.
• Sets up all invasive monitoring lines as requested by anesthesia personnel. Under the direction of the
Anesthesiologist/CRNA/SRNA, runs point of care labs and diagnostics, completing all required Point Of Care (P.O.C.)
documentation.
• Works closely with anesthesia staff during anesthesia emergencies and trauma cases; assisting with preparation of the O.R.
suite, line placement, handling of blood and lab draws and patient positioning for procedure.
• Troubleshoots and cares for all equipment used in the delivery of anesthesia care.
• Receives, sorts, decontaminates, and cleans reusable anesthesia equipment.
• Maintains and insures adequate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies in departmental service areas.
• Assists with positioning the patient according to operating room policy and procedure, and transport post-operatively to the PACU or unit in a safe and caring manner for the patient.
• Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient condition to the Anesthesiologist/CRNA/SRNA and other members of healthcare team.
• Contributes to the department’s effectiveness by reporting to duty on time, adhering to policy concerning break and lunch, and completing assigned duties in a efficient, effective, and timely manner.

Qualifications
Education/Training
• Nursing School Graduate
• Successful completion of a 30-hour approved IV therapy course within 30 days of hire for inpatient/SNF only.
Licensure/Certification
• Current nursing license in the State of Florida renewed every two years.
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
