Major Responsibilities: - Provides general patient care duties as directed by the registered nurse.
- 1)Stocks OR room daily per room assignment.
- 2)Performs camera holding as per assignment
- 3)Cleans OR room and equipment according to OR guidelines.
- 4)Properly stores equipment and supplies after each case.
- 5)Is able to function in all services.
- 6)Assists in emergency situations as assigned.
- 7)Properly handles cameras and scopes including disinfecting and storing.
- 8)Sets up suction for any case (service-specific).
- 9)Stores blood products.
- 10)Assists in post mortem care. Performs advanced tasks as assigned.
- Performs tasks related to sterility with an understanding of sterile technique.
- 1)Follows procedure regarding use of autoclave and Steris.
- 2)Follows procedure regarding sterilization of implants using spore testing.
- 3)Performs tasks regarding sterilization of cameras, instruments, and implants adhering to sterile technique.
- 4)Opens any sterile supplies or instruments adhering to sterile technique.
- 5)Can identify break in sterile technique.
- 6)Identifies outdates prior to opening sterile supplies or instruments.
- 7)Gowns and gloves according to policy and procedure.
- 8)Maintains sterile field when camera holding.
- 9)Moves about OR demonstrating awareness and careful proximity to sterile field.
- 10)Practices within the infection control policy and procedure.
- Performs tasks related to pre-operative preparation.
- 1)Assists with opening of all sterile supplies and instruments.
- 2)Gathers equipment, instruments, and supplies per room assignment.
- 3)Sterilizes instruments and cameras well in advance of when needed.
- 4)Places furniture and equipment in OR in appropriate position (service-specific).
- 5)Communicates with circulator, instrument ICT, or case cart coordinator identifying missing instruments and/or supplies.
- 6)Systems-tests equipment (service-specific).
- 7)Verifies all equipment is plugged into electrical outlet.
- 8)Replaces CO2 tank and printer paper with cartridge (service-specific).
- 9)Places irrigation in warmer (service-specific).
- 10)Performs pre-operative shaves as assigned. Performs patient transfer activities as assigned.
- Under direction and supervision of Registered Nurse performs surgical scrub assistant duties in cystoscopy room.
- 1)Acts as a surgical scrub assisting in variety of cystoscopy procedures
- 2)Responsible for setting up and maintaining sterile surgical table
- 3)Demonstrates knowledge and is efficient in interpreting chemical and biological indicates to determine sterility of an instrument(s) or instrument tray(s)
- 4)Responsible of maintaining sterile supplies within surgical field
- 5)Responsible for collecting and handing off to the registered nurse any collected surgical specimens
- Performs tasks related to intra-operative support.
- 10)Communicates with CPD regarding rewashing and/or sterilization of instruments. Properly and safely handles contaminated instruments in regards to storage and transfer to CPD. Performs room turnovers – disposes of all linen/garbage, removes casecart to Demontam, cleans room as per procedure. Processes specimens to Pathology per procedure. Documents patient information on appropriate forms.
- 1)Assists in admittance of patient to OR (i.e., warm blankets, help transfer patient or remove cart from OR).
- 2)Provides safe environment for patient.
- 3)Assists in connecting power supplies to field (i.e., bovie, suction, nitrogen, video equipment).
- 4)Assists in connecting irrigation to field.
- 5)Changes full suction canisters.
- 6)Maintains availability to circulator and/or communicates whereabouts when not in OR room.
- 7)Assists in positioning patients and demonstrates knowledge of all service-specific positions and positioning devices.
- 8)Maintains knowledge and skills of all aspects of camera holding.
- 9)Follows up and communicates on rewashes in a timely manner.
- Performs unit secretary(US) duties as assigned. The Unit Information Secretary serves to facilitate unit operations through accurate oversight and effective management of patients' medical records (electronic and non-electronic), coordination of services, supplies and the appropriate transcription of written orders.
- 1)Processes patient charges for multidisciplinary services as appropriate, and ensures patient procedures and tests are scheduled in a coordinated sequence.
- 2)Verifies appropriate patient identification process and registration in the Allegra system. Identifies any discrepancies in assignment of level of care and takes appropriate steps to reconcile.
- 3)Monitors patient's medical record for new and or stat orders and alerts nursing staff.
- 4)Verifies that medical records contain complete and accurate patient demographic information. Determines completeness of the medical record and prepares for final assembly prior to patient discharge and/or coordinates the copying of the medical record prior to transfer to other facilities. Prints reports for out of hospital transfers.
- 5)Notifies appropriate team members regarding outstanding orders and communicates pertinent and timely information to other departments and staff.
- 6)Maintains identified unit logs, checklists, reports (including Care Connection State of the Unit report, restraint forms, sitter utilization lists, etc.) as need is determined by hospital leadership.
- 7)Promotes necessary equipment replacement and repair by reporting through appropriate systems.
- 8)Participates in inventory, ordering and distribution of clerical supplies through Lawson system.
- 9)Maintains a current supply of patient forms and is responsible for disposition of outdated forms.
- 10)Promptly and courteously acknowledges and responds to internal and external customers who approach the nurses station. Facilitates the customers' request and demonstrates positive customer service behaviors.Demonstrates proper phone etiquette and function.

Education/Experience Required:- High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred but not required OR Nursing student 1 year clinical experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Courteous and professional interpersonal skills. Basic math calculation.

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions: - Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations. May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lb. may be required). Ability to work designated shifts including weekends and holidays. Ability to transport objects from one location to another. This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated. Ability to assume on-call responsibility. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to communicate with mask on and not facing others.
- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
