Job Duties
Hiram W. Davis Medical Center, located in Petersburg, Virginia, is a 94-bed medical facility providing acute medical diagnoses, skilled care, intermediate care, and long term care to individuals receiving services in DBHDS facilities and within the community that have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Admissions to HWDMC are generally either permanent placement or special hospitalization. Patients typically come to HWDMC as a special hospitalization for step-down to stabilize, post-surgery rehabilitation, or long-term care.
Registered Nurses (RN’s) provide age-specific quality nursing care to all patients through the nursing process and standards of nursing practice. RN’s plan, organize, coordinate, implement and evaluate nursing care daily; as well as supervise, document and provide guidance in performance of staff.
RNs Shift Differentials:
Weekday Evenings - $5.50
Weekday Nights - $4.00
Weekend Days - $5.50
Weekend Evenings - $6.00
Weekend Nights - $7.00
Minimum Qualifications
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia is also required.
Knowledgeable of professional nursing principles and practices; medication indications, actions, reactions and interactions and infection control.
Experience in nursing at the professional level coupled with experience in medical/surgical nursing, psychiatric nursing, geriatric nursing, rehabilitative nursing and or nursing care of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Be considerable skilled in application of professional nursing techniques and devices used in a wide range of procedures;
Demonstrate ability to apply the principles, practices and procedures of professional nursing, to recognize potential patient problems, to make nursing assessments, to observe, record and evaluate patients’ response to treatment, to communicate effectively with others orally and in writing.
Additional Considerations
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is preferred.
