Job Duties
The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR), located in Burkeville, VA is a behavioral treatment center recognized for its excellence by securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders. VCBR provides recovery, opportunity and support to residents so they may safely return to their communities and is the only facility in the Commonwealth that provides such service.
VCBR is actively recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner position provides medical care as an ancillary of an interdisciplinary treatment team to a group of residents. Specifically, this position monitors and manages acute and chronic medical conditions of civilly committed sex offenders. This position holds clinics, makes rounds, follows up on patient problems and provides and consultations on patient. This position is responsible for contributing to and formulating policies that determine the nature and extent of medical services provided to the VCBR residents.
Minimum Qualifications
Good diagnostic and medical treatment skills; ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary treatment team; working knowledge of federal and Virginian laws related to civilly committed and mental health, some knowledge of DMHMRSAS policies and regulations relating to patient’s rights and treatment procedures; good writing skills and communication capabilities.
The Nurse Practitioner should be a graduate of an approved or recognized school, licensed to practice in the State of Virginia by the Virginia Board of Medicine/Nursing and hold current DEA controlled substance registration.
