Responsibilities This opportunity is for full-time (36 hours per week) Registered Nurse (RN) to work a 12-week contract. The position offers an accelerated base pay of $50 per hour plus shift differential and a $2,500 completion bonus. Must work two weeknights 7pm - 7am plus every other Saturday & Sunday 7pm - 7am.

What do Registered Nurses do at Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services?
Demonstrates leadership in organizing the delivery of patient care in an acute psychiatric setting for patients experiencing a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Executes nursing procedures according to policy, utilizing the nursing process. Interacts with and assists in teaching/educating patients. Functions as a therapeutic member in planning and working with patient groups. Serves as a clinical resource person for staff members in their daily activities. Documents pertinent information accurately, timely and legibly. Functions as a medication nurse. Attends mandatory in-services and/or completes required web-based training. Demonstrates respect and tolerance for all patients without regard to age, gender, race, national origin, disability status, religion and/or lifestyle choice(s). Assumes responsibility for professional development and ongoing education. Maintains a professional appearance and attitude. Serves actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, supporting the hospital philosophy of nursing care; to ensure the safety and well-being of every patient.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female adolescents and adults, as well as dually diagnosed adults. In absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.
Required Education:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
Required Experience:
One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults and/or adolescents required.
Required Licensure/Certification:
Current NC State Licensed Nurse (or compact state)
AHA CPR & First Aid
Required Skills:
Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients. Ability to accurately administer medications and treatments. Ability to monitor and record response and side-effects to medications and treatments. Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures. Ability to assist with education of patients and families in medication and care management. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
Physical Requirements:
Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
