Pediatric Leadership Position - PPEC Assistant Site Director of Nursing
The Assistant Site Director of Nursing (ASDON) is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all professional and nonprofessional staff at the designated facility, under the supervision of the Site Director of Nursing. The ASDON provides coordination and supervision of all child/client/family and employee activities that happen on a day-to-day basis. The ASDON is responsible for the supervision of all tasks and duties that are delegated by Site Director of Nursing. The ASDON is the total quality client/family advocate that supervises the coordination of care in a multi-disciplinary method. The ASDON is responsible for the coordination of care of the child/family, assessing needs, coordination of appropriate clinical options and facilitating referral to primary providers, specialists, healthcare facilities and community resources. ASDON will be familiar with Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure.
- Must be licensed in the state of the designated facility or, if applicable, have a qualifying Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Basic personal computer skills and comfort with Microsoft Office.
- A minimum of two (2) years current nursing experience of which six (6) months will have been spent in a PICU, NICU, or PPEC facility.
- Current CPR (Basic Life Support) is required.
- Current TB test required
REPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES
Provides exceptional customer service and quality care.
- Acts as a role model to provide professional and courteous service to the children and their families. Facilitates all teams/team members to provide this professional and courteous care.
- Promotes team assignments that will provide quality care considering the professional’s experience and the child/client/family’s needs.
- Aids the Medical Director in determining client eligibility for admission. Provides proposals and solutions to meet goals and work requirements. Participates in a team effort to fulfill area goals and work requirements. Presents all information to staff members in a positive manner.
- Promotes and maintains confidentiality in all situations and interactions.
- Provides counseling, guidance, and supervision to team members with a positive approach.
- Follows chain of command with questions/concerns. Facilitates all team members to do the same.
Conducts sound nursing assessments and utilizes appropriate established guidelines.
- Demonstrates the ability to utilize and apply nursing processes in a daycare setting. Demonstrates the ability to provide individualized care at all times. Utilizes the appropriate guidelines and information based on the age of the child to foster independence and advancement.
- Receives initial inquiries and evaluates client eligibility for admission.
- Schedules pre-admission conferences/assessments to facilitate admission process.
- Handles emergent situations safely while remaining calm.
Maintains the following nursing responsibilities:
- Performs initial assessments of children/families at the center for current medical and psychosocial status, appropriateness of care and criteria for acceptance to the program.
- Coordinates all care of children as directed by the physician according to the Plan of Treatment and Care Plan.
- Supervises report of child status among all team members, supervisors, physicians, and parents. Make daily rounds (or more frequently as indicated) to ensure this process is completed.
- Supervises all documentation making sure that documentation is accurately and appropriately done in a timely manner.
- Supervises assessment, evaluation, observation, and management of protocols established in the Plans of Treatment. Comprehends and performs procedures that require substantial specialized knowledge.
- Makes all judgments based on a holistic approach to the care of the child.
- Provides direct client care (as needed) including but not limited to personal care activities, use of adaptive equipment, follow-through for therapy, administration of medications, treatments, and procedures.
- Promotes an environment which supports and encourages client/family advocacy.
- Maintains a clean, healthful, and safe environment.
Maintains professional responsibilities to remain up to date regarding The Kidz Club (TKC) and keeps all staff informed.
- Keeps current in The Kidz Club affairs via staff meetings and designated communications.
- Attends in-service education to stay up to date with Evidenced Based Practice and to learn new procedures, applications, and updates.
- Provides timely updates and reports regarding The Kidz Club issues as needed to the Support Directors or other appropriate Support employees.
- Participates in the planning of in-service training programs. Makes them interesting and useful in day- to-day practice.
- Educates staff members on health issues related to exposure, testing for tuberculosis and infection control.
- Administers injections and/or vaccinations to staff members as indicated. This includes all related record keeping.
Participates in the QA Program. Directs and assists in all aspects of the process including but not limited to data collection, evaluation of problems and solutions and the design of monitors.
Maintains a current certification in basic life support.
Maintains a current valid nursing license in the state of the designated facility.
Follows all policy and procedures implemented by TKC as applicable to the job or duties assigned and in relation to the Employee Handbook.
Adheres to assigned work schedule in accordance with TKC Employee Handbook.
