MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides all elements of pre-anesthesia, anesthesia and post-anesthesia services including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care consistent with anesthesia plan and in collaboration with the surgeon/anesthesiologist/surgical team.
Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives.
Participates in preoperative evaluation including but not limited to assessment, exam, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering pre‐medications, requesting and/or review of preoperative studies.
Ensures readiness and availability of equipment, supplies and medications to perform the planned anesthetic.
Delivers anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, and emergence from anesthesia.
Selects, obtains, and administers the necessary anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and temperature regulating devices to manage the anesthetic, assesses response, and intervene as needed.
Performs post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient and facilitating safe transfer of care to other qualified individuals; administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon; and making post-anesthetic visits regarding the presence or absence of anesthesia related complications.
Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including providing advanced airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and using basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques.
Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Substantiates and submits professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices.
Other responsibilities:
Participates in quality, safety and peer review initiatives/performance activities, organizational and/or departmental meetings and committees, peer review, and workgroups as necessary.
Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health care professionals.
Seeks experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and advance the profession within and outside of the organization.
Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe and timely patient care delivery.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License/Registration/Certification Required:
Active RN, and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or other APRN license(s) in state(s) of practice, AND
Active national board certification as CRNA by nationally certifying board (NBCRNA).
Active DEA registration prior to hire
If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire
Active ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical site/practice and/or role prior to or within 6 months of hire
Education Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must have functional vision and hearing.
Must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
Will be exposed to the following hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids.
Will be required to wear gloves, goggles and gowns on an as-needed basis.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.
Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
