Responsibilities San Marcos Treatment Center, a 212-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located between Austin and San Antonio in the heart of Central Texas! San Marcos spreads across 65-acres with an abundance of trees and wildlife. We have 13 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development levels with two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, sports court, playing fields, ropes course, canteen, social area, and a healing trail. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 6 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.
This is a Nursing Supervisor position whose schedule will be Sunday through Wednesday - 9 am to 7 pm each day.

Our Nursing Supervisor is a position that is on the front lines of treatment for the children in our care. Providingage-specific nursing care to residents through the nursing process in accordance with San Marcos Treatment Center policy and procedure & standards of nursing practice. The nurse maintains a safe, therapeutic environment, using the least restrictive measures necessary & upholds the rights and dignity of the children and their families at all times. As a member of the clinical team, accurate clinical and administrative documentation is required as well as communication with co-workers, supervisors, and other team members regarding patient care and safety concerns.
Qualifications Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, report, and document the residents' behavior and physiological state
- Administer medications and perform treatments/procedures in accordance with San Marcos Treatment Center policy and procedure & standards of nursing practice
- Report accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of residents.
- Supervise the provision of direct patient care and management of children, adolescent and young adult patients as prescribed by the physician and treatment team.
- Provide assessment and medical management of patients.
- Provide Training and support to facility nurses to assure safety and crisis management for patient populations.
Licensure Requirement: Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
Other Requirements: Candidate must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire
Candidate must be able to:
- Successfully complete and pass all components of Handle with Care & Verbal De-escalation Training
- Perform CPR and First Aid
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Effectively use the full range of body motion
- Ability to use and supervise Handle With Care (HWC) techniques
- CPR, First Aid, and HWC certifications may be obtained during new employee orientation
- Reflect behavior, attitude, and appearance appropriate to the position and be supportive of the facility and division philosophy, goals, and objectives
- Effectively communicate both verbally and via written documentation
