Responsibilities The Care Management RN Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and resource management and oversees day to day clinical operation of designated work areas providing guidance and support to clinical and support staff to ensure that quality patient or client focused care is delivered. The Care Management RN Supervisor effectively resolves utilization review issues, provides leadership in resolving psychosocial issues, and removes barriers and complexities for RN Case Managers to effectively facilitate safe transitional planning and follow up. Collaborates internally and externally to maximize patient flow and mitigate reimbursement issues. When appropriate, provides professional patient care utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with the patient/employee and interdisciplinary healthcare team. Internally collaborates with pre-certification, admitting, billing office, contracting staff, house supervisors, risk management, legal, HR, physicians, and specialty departments that impact needs during the patient encounter or employee services. Externally collaborates with health plans, providers, and vendors that impact needs during patient encounter. This individual has a strong working knowledge of CMS, regulatory compliance mandates, auditing agencies, OSHA, NCDs, LCDs and healthcare systems. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient/employee’s needs. The Supervisor supports leadership through activities that includes development of staff, teaching community involvement, and participation in committees and research. The American Nurses Association of Nursing (ANA) Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, the AAACN Ambulatory Care Nursing Administration and Practice Standards, the American Case Management Association (ACMA) Standards of Practice, the Occupational Health Nursing Association Standards of Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses provides the basis for practice.
Qualifications Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing preferred, or a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in an inpatient medical setting required.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Leadership qualities and skills strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and other payer sources, benefits, and limitations.
- Strong inpatient utilization review knowledge related to status and process.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proficiency with computers.
- Working knowledge of Interqual.
- Case Management and Occupation Health preferred.
License and Certifications:
- Current RN licensure from AZ
- Other certifications as required by the department.
- Obtains and maintains specialty certification per area guidelines. (e.g. ACM-RN, CMM, COHN, COHN-S).
