Job Summary
We are hiring a Medical Assistant with wound care experience. The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with the Nurse Practitioner to provide consistent, quality care for patients with chronic wounds. Responsibilities:
- The medical assistant provides patient care and staff support, including, documenting patients’ vital signs, and removing any dressings
- Organizes and prioritizes work to provide a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, responsible for medical supplies, stocking and light clerical duties
- Helping Providers on the field to reposition patients during wound care treatment
- Organizes and prioritizes work to provide a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
- Perform duties such as assisting the Physician and Wound Nurse with all aspects of wound care, assisting with wound care education and readying patients for wound care treatment
- Assist wound care providers when necessary, including but not limited to incontinence care, preparing/positioning patient for evaluation by physician, assisting with dressing application, full body skin exams
- Ensure the patient is positioned comfortably and all applicable offloading devices are in place at the conclusion of the wound care visit
- Communicates in a clear and concise manner to wound nurse and administrative team
- Knowledgeable of the differences between clean and sterile techniques and adheres to infection prevention and control procedures
- Answers patients’ questions regarding wound care
- Patient safety rounds (check beds, ostomies, wound vac’s, dressings and what is otherwise assigned by Physician or facility Wound Nurse.)
- Assist with broader operational activities, including scheduling appointments, light scribe duties, assisting with completing documentation, and completing office-related tasks (copying, etc.) as needed.
- Assist with quality improvement implementation.
- Assist with other duties as needed.

- Must have excellent medical assistant service skills and be committed to providing the highest level of customer service.

- Protect the confidentiality and security of patient information and adhere to HIPPA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Additional education or certification in medical billing and/or credentialing is preferred.
- Must be able to pass all background checks
- Current BLS Certificate required.
- Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Able to travel to these locations: Champaign and Paxton, Illinois
