Minimum Education
Associate's degree required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - all must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Handle With Care (HWC) must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Licenses:
RN Licensed to Practice in the State of Kentucky
*New Graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months with the expectation that an RN license will be obtained within the first 6 months of employment. If an RN license is not earned within 6 months of employment, the provisional licensee must immediately cease practicing in a licensed nursing position.
Position Summary:
·Identifies patient acuity based upon need and condition
·Assesses patient and reviews patient's medical record to formulate and individualized nursing plan of care
·Provides nursing care to patients with restrictive, obstructive, and vascular pulmonary diseases
·Provides nursing care for patients receiving cardiac pacing therapy
·Performs remote continuous observation of multiple telemetry monitors for an assigned group of patients
·Provides nursing care for patients with inserted/implanted central venous access devices (CVADs)
·Provides nursing care for patients with chest drainage systems
·Provides nursing care for emergently hypoglycemic and hyperglycemic patients
·Ability to assist with/or place endotracheal tube
·Provides nursing care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation
·Provides nursing care for patients with acute and/or chronic wounds
·Provides nursing care for dying and deceased patients
·Facilitates the department's compliance with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) for patients presenting with emergent medical conditions or in active labor
