Central Regional Hospital
***Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.***
We are currently recruiting for Registered Nurses on all units at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). This posting is for our Adult Admissions Units, Medical Unit, Forensic Units and our Community Transition Units. There is a separate positing for our other units CAU/GSU at CRH.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for completion of shift assignments, medication administration, participation on treatment teams and all other required duties within the scope of the role and license.
- Rotating responsibility as the unit's Charge Nurse. The Registered Nurse, performing in the Charge Nurse role will supervise the tasks and duties of other Professional Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Healthcare Technicians/Youth Program Assistants (Certified Nursing Assistant).
Adult Admissions Unit (AAU). AAU serves patients ages 18-64 presenting with multiple diagnoses including primary psychiatric as well as substance abuse and medical diagnoses. The goal of AAU is stabilization so patients can return to living in the community as independently as possible.
Forensic Treatment Program (FTP) (76 beds). Males and females, 18 years and over: Provides mental health treatment and other services for individuals who are involuntary committed for psychiatric hospitalization after being found Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity or found incapable to proceed. Pretrial unit provides comprehensive forensic mental health evaluations for the State of North Carolina for criminal defendants ordered by the court system.
Community Transition Unit (CTU). The Community Transition Unit (CTU) patient population consists of adults ages 18-64, diagnosed with a severe mental illness. Patients are not normally admitted directly into CTU. Patients are transferred from Adult Admission Unit for long term treatment of their mental illness after repeated admissions. Many are homeless and have no source of income and housing; lacking a support system at home and in the community; and have inadequate coping and problem-solving skills.
Medical Psychiatric Unit (MPU). The primary purpose of this area is to provide Medical Surgical care for acute illnesses, chronic conditions unable to be treated by the psych unit, and functions as the Emergency Response Team (CODE Blue). Patients admitted to this area often have multiple issues which require various levels of care from independence to total care. In addition, MPU acts as the Employee Clinic after hours and patient clinic for patients returning from OSH/ambulatory care procedures.
Multiple positions and shifts are available however needs vary daily with ever changing hospital vacancies. Our shifts are 8 hours and include rotating weekends and holidays as scheduled. First Shift: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Second Shift: 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. **20% Shift Differential Offered**
Third Shift: 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. **20% Shift Differential Offered**
We currently offer additional shift differential pay for our second (20%), third (20%) and weekend (10%) shifts.
These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement.

Management prefers: Experience in a psychiatric, medical or other healthcare setting but will provide training of newly licensed graduates.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
